A year ago I quit my job, packed up my apartment and car camped across the country during COVID.

Eeeeeeeeesh — I know, NOT smart, and for those that know me, it doesn’t sound like me.

No, I’m not a Republican and no, I’m not an anti-vaxer. I’m an East-coaster, after all.

You’re probably wondering (and rightly so):

WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!?

I’ve spent the last year trying to unpack that. There’s no legitimate justification — it’s all trumped under the idea of spreading COVID.

I went over the woo-woo spiritual deep end by listening to a tiny inner voice that went against everything my head told me.

(No, I’m not a bible-thumper either, although I do love Jesus if that’s what you were thinking.)

I went to the woods after the CDC found that transmission was low if you were outdoors. Also because I knew so little about this country I lived in for 30 years, and was sick of watching it lose its soul from my laptop screen. And I saw people lose loved ones and realized life is too short.

And a force I’ll call the very idea of Mystery itself guided me, kept me safe — in sometimes miraculous ways — introduced me to incredible…
