In July of 2020, I quit my job to live on the road. The CDC had just announced that being outside would lessen the likelihood of COVID spread, and yet.. “stay home.” What if “outside” was my home for awhile? I wondered. That seemed safer than being sick in my apartment and/or potentially killing someone at the grocery store.
Being alone, by myself, for longer than a day — for the first time in my adult life — made for a profound awakening (I’m writing about my trip here).
In the meantime, I had to pack up my apartment, get a car, plan my route and assemble all the gear I’d need in order to leave in 2 weeks. The rush job was surprisingly smooth with this list, and keep in mind it was created with the utmost COVID protection in mind. Sharing in case it helps!
COVID-grade survival tools/antibacterial everything:
- Face masks (x10; cloth)
- Hand sanitizer (one large container, 3 handhelds)
- Antibacterial wipes (x1 — they were scarce)
- All-natural vegetable disinfectant scrub — remember when we were doing this like crazy?
- Box of surgical gloves (this was back when gas pumps were the enemy, so might not need)
